About This Event
Watch in awe as some of the most exciting races in the horse racing calendar unfold before your eyes, while enjoying the famous backdrop of York Racecourse. As well as an exciting day of racing, there will also be opportunities to support Macmillan, including the chance to win some amazing prizes in our raffle. We’ll have more than 100 volunteers selling raffle tickets on the day, so please say hello.
This year is the 10th anniversary of Macmillan Ride of Their Lives. In 2021, after a series of postponements, 12 amazing riders raised over £100,000 for people living with cancer by taking part in our closest race to date, which needed a photo finish to decide the winner!
This year, 12 new daring riders from across the UK and Ireland will train and raise funds before they ride in front of around 25,000 people as part of the iconic race, which celebrates a decade of support and more than £1.2 million raised for people living with cancer since it began.
To find out about this year’s riders and to donate, visit the Macmillan Charity Raceday JustGiving page.
This exciting day at the races has raised a staggering £9 million since it first launched in 1971. The proceeds have enabled us to help people living with cancer with financial, physical and emotional support. As a result of the pandemic, our 50th Anniversary wasn’t the celebration we had all hoped for, but this year we are excited to return to York Racecourse bigger and better than ever before.
Being diagnosed with cancer is still the most frightening experience many of us will ever face. Having the right support makes a dramatic difference to people’s ability to cope and live with cancer and find their best way through. For the vast majority of people, that ‘right support’ means access to a specialist cancer nurse, who can help them to understand their diagnosis and treatment options and to navigate the journey at every step. More than ever, your support is invaluable in helping us to do whatever it takes for people living with cancer, so they can live life as fully as they can.
